Email: jstorrs@phamepdx.org

Julia teaches PHAME’s Mixed Media class and enjoys working with the different skills of each student. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Tufts University and the Museum School of Fine Arts in Boston. After working as a preparator and building manager for the Institute of Contemporary Art, Julia moved to the Bay Area and worked for PRO ARTS (a non profit) as Project Director, for MOCHA (the Museum of Children’s Art) as a teaching artist, and for Creative Growth Art Center (a school for adults with disabilities) teaching art, art furniture, and rug hooking.

In Portland, she developed an after school and summer camp program with her sister, Anne, called The Art Garage, and also taught after-school art with the Metropolitan Learning Center. Significant volunteer gigs include working at a housing center for women and transgender populations through Transition Projects called S.O.S. (Safety Off the Streets), and with Project Grow (a farm and art center for disabled adults).

Julia is a practicing artist and has dabbled in spoken word and improv music.
