When we found PHAME, my life changed: A letter from PHAME student Cassidy Hosse

Young adult woman with light skin and long dark hair. She is smiling and is perched in a tree.

PHAME allows me to grow, and it makes me feel free and happy.

I didn’t feel like that before. As a person with a developmental disability, I’ve had to wait a lot. I grew up in New Hampshire, and when I graduated from high school I had to wait for services. I had no support person, no school, no programs to go to. After a year of waiting, my mom and I moved to Portland.

When we found PHAME, my life changed.

Today, I’m asking you to support this amazing place.

My teachers at PHAME believe in me. They challenge me. They give me work that matters. That makes me feel proud and amazing because I’ve learned something new. And it makes me feel fulfilled—I’m not just waiting anymore, I am doing what I always dreamed about.

When you make a contribution before June 30, you make sure that PHAME starts the new fiscal year strong. Together, we can make sure that PHAME can keep providing the programming that has let me keep learning and growing, in spite of all that’s happened this past year.

You can make sure that PHAME is here for me and my friends—and that we aren’t stuck waiting again for the incredible joy and meaning that come from being at PHAME. Please make your contribution today.

Sincerely,
