Can We Share a Secret?
As we get closer to this year’s PHAMEtastic, we have a little secret to admit: over at the PHAME office, it looks like the 2020 gala happened…yesterday.
That’s because it was only a few days after last year’s gala that the stay at home order came and PHAME dove into the world of online, well, everything. But although the PHAME office remains a time capsule of March 13, 2020, we continue to be vigorously dedicated to our mission of empowering individuals with I/DD through arts education and performance.
Over these last eleven months, we’ve run 88 term-length classes, hosted well over 100 online hangouts, produced three student-led video projects, introduced a series of online Student Cabarets, and so much more. Our online programming is keeping PHAME students connected—to each other, and to their creative pursuits.
For many of us at PHAME, the last time we hugged someone outside of our households was at the 2020 gala. Staying home is hard, and with the recent news that PHAME is staying online for Spring Term, we know that the hard part isn’t over yet. But there is a lot to be grateful for right now, and we count ourselves as lucky to be able to continue our work. Right now, we’re enjoying looking back at the pictures from last year, and we know that even though the hugs at this year’s gala will be virtual, our community is strong and our work will continue.
One way to support our work is to attend this year’s gala. It’s online, and it’s going to be PHAMEtastic. Find out more (and preregister to unlock free perks) on our PHAMEtastic event page.
See you at PHAMEtastic!
