All prospective students are required to visit at least one class and/or attend an informational session/meet with a staff member prior to registering. New students who do not follow this procedure may not be allowed to register.

Please note that registration is on a first come, first served basis. Once a class is full, registration for that particular class will be closed and unavailable online. Early registration is highly recommended. Financial Aid is available at different levels for all who request it. PHAME is out of session for the summer. The Fall 2014 class schedule is below and available as a pdf download HERE. Registration will begin on Monday August 11 at 10:00am. The Fall term begins on Monday September 8.

NEWSPAPER: PHAME Phorum   **NEW CLASS**
Help build a publication all about the PHAME community! Learn basic interviewing and reporting skills, and put them to use sleuthing out interesting stories that haven’t yet been told. Students who take this class will be expected to spend time outside of class working on assignments.

COSTUME DESIGN
Ever wanted to create amazing costumes for characters you see onstage, or maybe even create your own character through a costume? Now is your chance! Sewing skills aren’t necessary, just a flair for fashion and a bright imagination.                  Time: Mondays, 2:45-4:00pm

ACTING (SECTION 1) and ACTING (SECTION 2)
Learn to create a story onstage through acting exercises, games, character development, and more. Topics will vary according to class section and instructor. (Please register for one section of Acting only)

KICK IT UP! (Dance Fitness)  **NEW CLASS**
Get your heart rate up and your body moving with this fun and challenging dance fitness class! Elements of Zumba and aerobics combine to help you get a great cardio and muscle toning dance workout. Wear comfortable clothes and athletic shoes, and come ready to sweat it out!

MUSIC IN MOTION  **NEW CLASS**
Music and movement come together as students create original theatrical movement and iPad compositions, resulting in original performance pieces.

TUESDAY - Doors open 11:15am

YOGA
Improve balance, flexibility, and focus in this peaceful yet challenging class. Recharge and clear your mind so you’re ready to take on the rest of the day! Students of all abilities, body types, and experience levels are welcome! Wear comfortable clothing that allows for freedom of movement. All equipment will be provided, though students who have their own yoga mats are welcome to bring them.

SONGWRITING (SECTION 1)
Why perform other people's music when you can write and perform your own?  Students can write their own songs or participate in writing group songs. Whether you've written songs before, or are ready to write your first, you’re welcome to come explore your creative musical side! CHAMBER ENSEMBLE
The PHAME Chamber Ensemble is PHAME’s only auditioned, performance-based class. Using voices, instruments, and even iPads, the Chamber Ensemble will rehearse and perform pieces from multiple styles and genres from Folk to Pop to Classical. In addition to rehearsing new material, the class will focus on fundamentals like ensemble playing, rhythm, and harmony. Those who auditioned and were selected for the Chamber Ensemble during the 2013-2014 school year may register for Chamber Ensemble. VISUAL ART
Students will explore a variety of mediums and styles of visual art, both two and three dimensional. Paint, draw, sculpt, collage, collaborate, and create!

DANCE
Learn a variety of movement styles and dance techniques in this active, fun, and challenging class. Students of all skill levels and body types are encouraged to participate. This class will focus more on technique and choreography than Monday’s exercise-oriented Kick it Up! Dance class.

RHYTHM & DRUMMING
If you like to bang on drums, shake rain sticks, clap your hands and explore rhythms from all over the world, have we got a class for you! This class focuses on basic rhythm and ensemble skills while immersing students in music from all over the world. Explore rhythm and group drumming while playing bongos, congas, hand clapping, doumbeks, shakers, rhythm sticks, and more. There may even be some beat boxing!

PLAYWRITING
Learn the basics of writing your own play, from script formatting to creating believable dialogue. Bring your creativity, a notebook and pen (or your laptop if you want to!), and your willingness to try something new!

MUSICAL THEATRE (SECTION 1)
Keep your song and dance skills sharp while working on your musical theatre acting style in this fun class that teaches you how to be a triple threat! Explore scenes and songs from your favorite musicals, and learn to love shows that are new to you, too!  (Please register for EITHER Section 1 OR Section 2, not both.)

iPAD MUSIC LAB (SECTION 1)
Use technology to explore music and composition in a group environment. From creating funky beats to lyrical melodies students will work on original electronic music and learn more about what composition is all about through music apps on iPads. Another section of iPad Music Lab is scheduled immediately after this one to allow more students to take the class. (Please register for EITHER Section 1 OR Section 2, not both.)

CHOIR
PHAME’s largest class welcomes anyone who enjoys singing in a group, regardless of skill level. Choir members will have several opportunities for public performance throughout the year, including the PHAME@30 Holiday Finale on December 13th.

LIVE MUSIC LOOPS!   **NEW CLASS**
What is music looping? It’s the recording and layering of sounds in a spontaneous, live environment to create fun and unique music pieces. In this class you'll make music with your friends using your voices, electric and acoustic instruments, sounds from the environment, and more. So whether you are a beat boxer, singer, drummer, or have a favorite iPad sound, you'll be able to explore music looping while having a blast!

FROM BACH TO TUPAC: MIND BLOWING SOUNDS!
Have you ever wanted to rock out on an electric guitar or learn how a violin works? Freestyle and breakdance with a DJ?  Sing with amazing jazz musicians or create sounds on electronic instruments you've never even heard of?  If so, this class is for you! Term to term, we will explore music of all kinds, and to help us along our journey, we'll have incredible guest artists each week.
